This registration session will allow you to complete contact information, sign up for participation, and submit payment.

Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately.

2019-2020 Midcoast Youth Hockey Programs

Youth Hockey Association follows the age classifications as determined by USA Hockey. Age is determined by the child’s age as of December 31, 2019.

LTPH (Learn to Play Hockey)

 

Mini-Mites

Entry level program Ages 4 and up (Born 2015 or earlier)

 

 

Ages 5 & 6 (Born 2013 & ’14) that have completed a session of LTPH or with coach evaluation of readiness

Mites
 

Ages 6, 7 & 8 (Born 2011, ’12 & ‘13) that have completed a session of LTPH or with coach evaluation of readiness

Squirts

Ages 9 & 10 (Born 2009 & '10)

Pee Wees

Ages 11 & 12 (Born 2007 & '08)

Bantams

Ages 13 & 14 (Born 2004 & '05)

 

LTPH (Learn to Play Hockey) Program:  Introduction to hockey.  Skaters must be 4 years old or older by December 31st, 2019.  (birth year: 2015 and older) One ice session per week (45-60 minutes on average).  Practices will be held on Sundays at Watson Arena in Brunswick.  Season will run from late October to early March, resulting in approximately 20 hours of on ice time.  Full protective hockey equipment required as sticks and pucks will be introduced towards the middle of the season.  Mid-season, at a date to be determined, skaters may be moved up to their age appropriate division at the coach’s discretion.

Birth year 2011 skaters, after one year of LTPH, may choose our Mites program below after consulting with the Director of Developmental Programs.

LTPH is FREE for first year participants. 

For returning players, the fee will be $250.00. Jerseys issued to players will need to be returned to the club at the conclusion of the season.

 

Mini-Mites:  Our Mini-Mites program is for players ages 5 & 6 (birth years: 2013 & 2014) who have completed at least half a season of the LTPH program.  The Mini-Mites season begins in late October and extends to early March.  The Mini-Mites will practice 1-2 times per week and have approximately 30 - 40 hours of ice time per season.  Practices consist of fun, skills-oriented drills based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model (http://www.admkids.com/) and are held on Sundays at Watson Arena at Bowdoin College and occasionally on Saturdays at various local rinks.  Mini-Mites will play half-ice games and they will be assigned to permanent mixed ability teams for the season.  Many practices will be on shared ice with another group. 

2019/2020 Mini-Mites Fees will be $250.00 ($300.00 after September 15).  Jerseys issued to players will need to be returned to the club at the conclusion of the season.

 

Mites:  Our Mites program is for players ages 6, 7 and 8 (birth years: 2011, 2012 & 2013) who have completed at least a year of the LTPH program and have been approved by coaches as ready to skate at the Mite level.  For questions, contact the Director of Developmental Programs.  The Mites season begins in early October and extends to mid-March.  The Mites will practice 1-2 times per week and have approximately 50 - 60 hours of ice time per season.  Practices consist of fun, skills-oriented drills based on USA Hockey’s American Development Model (http://www.admkids.com/) and are held on Sundays at Watson Arena at Bowdoin College as well as Saturdays at other local rinks.  Starting in November, Mites will have a scheduled game most weeks.  These will include in house games, against other Midcoast Mites teams, as well as the opportunity to compete against similar teams from nearby hockey organizations.  Mites will play half-ice games and they will be assigned to permanent mixed ability teams for the season.  

2019/2020 Mites Fees will be $425.00 ($475.00 after September 15). Jerseys issued to players will need to be returned to the club at the conclusion of the season. 

 

Mites EP: Optional, but highly recommended for those born in 2011 moving up to the squirt level the following year, an opportunity for additional ice time beyond the traditional mite program.  Ice times will likely be the 30-60 minutes immediately preceding or after a regularly scheduled mite practice.  These mites will begin to learn the rules and positioning applicable to the full-ice hockey game and applying them in scrimmages.  Contact Director of Developmental Programs for more information. 

2019/2020 Mites EP Fees will be $75.00

 

Midcoast Development Team (MCDT): All Squirts and Peewees must be competent in basic skating and stick skills to play in games against other associations.  Older skaters (birth years 2010 & older) requiring additional development should consider this reduced-fee squirt/peewee development program.  Ice time will be provided for these players through the Mites programs described above.  Contact Director of Developmental Programs for more information regarding your skater prior to registration.

The fee for this program will be $250.00.

 

MCYH Girls Team: Optional (and only applicable if registration numbers allow) for girls in birth years 2007 – 2012. Girls team(s) will practice with and play games against other MCYH Mites teams as well as the Midcoast Development Team (see above). Possible opportunities for all-girls events with local high school girls and coaches. Contact Director of Developmental Programs for more information. 

MCYH Girls Team is a FREE supplemental program for registered participants who must also be registered in either the Mites or MCDT program.

 

Squirt T4: Birth years 2009 & 2010.  Includes 1-2 practices per week, 20-25 games and the State Tournament.  Fees will be $735.00 ($785.00 after September 15).

Squirt Skills Sessions: Optional, supplemental program for squirt aged players (birth years 2009 & 2010) who are also registered for Squirt T4. October to December. Will include 4-6 individual skill-based practices (likely every other week) in conjunction with the Peewee program. Fees will be $50.00.

Squirt EP: Optional, supplemental program for squirt aged players (birth years 2009 & 2010) who are also registered for Squirt T4 who are ready for increased competitive play. January to March. Will include 8-10 practices, 4-6 games and 1-2 tournaments (in New England). Registered players will be considered, (but not guaranteed) for a spot on this team after evaluation and/or a tryout held by coaches.

2019/2020 Squirt EP Fees will be determined at a later date and be assessed after final roster selection, but is expected to be $200.00 to $300.00, pending number of games & tournaments scheduled. 

 

Peewee T4: Birth years 2007 & 2008.  Includes 2 practices per week, 4-6 skill sessions, 20-25 games, one tournament offered before February 1st and the State Tournament.  Fees will be $945.00 ($995.00 after September 15).

 

Bantam T4: Birth years 2005 & 2006.  Will not be offered for 2019/2020 season.

 

MCYH Goalie Clinics: Optional, but recommended for goalies at the Mites, Squirt & Peewee (Birth years 2007 – 2012). Expected to be once a week for most of the season, the 45-60 minute sessions, coached by an in-house goalie instructor will focus on all aspects of the goaltending position. Contact Director of Developmental Programs for more information. This program is FREE to all MCYH registered players.


USA Hockey Requirement

Each Player must register first with USA Hockey and then return to this Registration Session to signup for the 2019-2020 Season.

  • Step 1:  CLICK HERE to go to USA Hockey Registration and register your player(s). Be sure to PRINT and SAVE their confirmation code(s). Remember to register EACH of your players with USA Hockey. Each player must have their own unique USA Hockey confirmation number.
  • Step 2:  Return to this registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the USA Hockey Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1.
